When: November 11. We meet in the staging area (details below) starting at 11AM. The parade starts at 12-noon. The parade is approximately 1 mile long and should take about 1 hour to complete once we start marching. So, plan on 2 - 2.5 hours from the time you line up in the staging area until the parade ends.
IMPORTANT: The parade starts at 12-noon, but this year we are #87 in line. The groups depart at about 1 per minute, so we don't actually start moving until after 1PM.
Where:
"Marchers" area on Delmas Avenue - West Side Parking Lot. (Map below) This is were we will assemble before the parade. When you arrive look for a marker with our number. There will be monitors on the streets with line up sheets and any of your group can ask your position upon arrival into the staging area. See Staging Map below. Directions: Link
Who:
Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, parents and siblings may march. Every Cub Scout must have a parent marching with them. This is not a drop-off event! Siblings are welcome but they must be 5 years or older to walk. Younger siblings must be pushed or carried in a stroller, wagon, etc.
What to bring:
Lunch to eat before parade starts. Also, snacks and activities to keep the scouts entertained and occupied. A patriotic craft they can carry would be great. Depending on the weather also bring a hat, sunscreen, and/or an umbrella.
Attire:
Cb Scouts, Boy Scouts, and leaders should be in full uniform. Girl Scout siblings should also wear their uniforms. Otherwise, parents and siblings are encouraged to dress with a patriotic theme (i.e., red, white and blue) or wear Pack T-shirts.
Parking:
You're on your own for parking. They don't have any specific area set aside for parade participants. You may have to pay to park.
AY Parking, 324 W Santa Clara St, San Jose, CA 95113. Direction: Map.
Restrooms: Will be available in the staging area.
