Castle Rock State Park Hike

Saturday, August 13th

Depart from your home in Santa Clara at 8:30AM

Meet at Castle Rock Parking Lot ($8 for parking)

Start Hiking: 9:32AM

 

We will be doing a short and relatively easy hike from parking lot to the actual “Castle Rock”.  Depending on the ability of hikers, we may go to the Castle Rock Falls and Overlook to see if water is flowing.

 

Once at Castle Rock, you can eat your snack and explore or climb on the boulders.  I expect there will be real rock climbers on the rock, so we will be sure to keep clear of them.  The real climbers are run to watch.  You may want to bring bike helmet for your children as they will likely be scrambling on the rocks.

 

Don't forget sunscreen, water bottle, insect repellent, and a snack. Wear your Class B's (Pack T-shirt).

Notes / Recommendations:

Castle Rock has rangers that provide tours.  Check the schedule.

The parking lot is small and fills up fast.  Suggest to arrive at 9AM.

A good hike would be as follows: parking lot --> waterfall --> castle rock --> parking lot.
